Domino's thin crust pizza

According to Domino’s, they use enriched flour, oil, a bit of salt and yeast to make their dough for the Hand Tossed, Handmade Pan and New York style pizza crusts. The Thin Crust pizza uses regular flour, malted barley and wheat flour. Their gluten-free pizza crust contains the following ingredients: Water, Modified Rice Starch, Rice Flour, Brown Rice Flour, Potato Starch, Olive Oil, Potato Flour, Evaporated Cane Sugar, Fresh Yeast, Honey, Avicel, Salt, Calcium Propionate.

The pizza crust matters because it can affect your overall experience. Domino’s offers various crust options to cater to different preferences and these include:

Thin Crust

Thin Crust is perfect for those who enjoy a light and crispy texture in their pizza.  It has a cracker-like crunch and it’s less doughy compared to all the others. The flavor is subtle which means you can put pretty much any toppings you want and it won’t be an issue. But it does pair well with veggies and pepperoni.

Hand Tossed Crust

Hand Tossed Crust is another favorite among those who like a more traditional pizza. It has a tender, chewy texture. It uses spicy garlic seasoning around the edges, so you get a balanced flavor of yeasty dough with notes of garlic.

Brooklyn Style Crust

Brooklyn Style Crust is inspired by the New York-style pizza. It’s thinner and stretchier than the Hand Tossed Crust but of course thicker than the thin crust. It has a distinct chewiness with a slightly crisp base. It’s best paired with classic toppings like pepperoni, various cheeses and sausages. BTW I’ve just found out that Brooklyn style crust is no longer available at Domino’s and has been replaced by the slightly thicker New York style crust.

If you love deep dish pizza then the Handmade Pan Crust is for you. It has a thick, crispy crust with a soft, airy center. Flavor is rich and buttery. Pizzas made with pan crust are smaller but thicker and sliced into triangular pieces.

Gluten-Free Crust

Domino’s offers the Gluten-Free Crust option for those with gluten allergies or restrictions. But inspite being gluten-free, this crust is pleasantly chewy and tasty just like the traditional pizza crusts.

Does Domino’s pizza have cheese in the crust?

Unfortunately, Domino’s doesn’t have stuffed crust pizzas. If you love stuffed crust, you’d have to go to Pizza Hut. In the UK however you might find some Domino’s locations offering stuffed crust pizza.

Which pizza crust is best in Domino’s?

Hmm. I’m torn between Brooklyn Style Crust and the Hand-Tossed but let’s hear from others who are big fans of Domino’s Pizza:

Hand tossed because the crust seasoning is addictive as crack

Brooklyn is good too would be my favorite if the crust seasoning was an option

Pan too thick and doughy as if I didn’t already feel bad from all the carbs

Thin is crunchy which if you’re into that go for it but not my thing

It depends on how you like your crust. Thin crunchy, hand tossed is what most people think of when they think of pizza crust, it’s thicker and a bit chewy. Pan is made in a deep dish and the crust is really thick. Brooklyn crust is halfway between a thin and a hand tossed.

Pan is best flavor but has lots of inflammatory hydrogenated soybean oil. Thin crust or Brooklyn don’t have the poison oil and you’ll feel way better after dinner

That’s up to you. I personally prefer the hand tossed because of the garlic oil. Some people think that the hand tossed is to tick, well the Brooklyn style is the same dough just stretched out so the flavor is similar, but now you can fold it easily. I also think dominos has a pretty flavorful thin crust if you want some crunch with your pizza. The pan is pretty buttery, but it the winter a good pan can make you feel warm inside! Lastly the Gluten free, a crust I almost never had and nothing really to compare too, but I always heard that it was a good Gluten free crust.

Is the Brooklyn Style Pizza the Best at Domino’s?

Brooklyn Style is Domino’s effort to recreate the large New York pizza slice. As previously mentioned, the Brooklyn style pizza is no longer available.  It’s been replaced by NY style pizza which has a slightly thicker crust.  In any case, to make a pizza “Brooklyn” style or a NY style pizza, Domino’s stretches a medium dough ball into a large pie, with the same flavor and texture as its standard hand-tossed pizza but with a thinner slice. This results in less bread, but also provides a better topping-to-crust ratio.

This balance highlights the cheese and sauce similarly to the Thin and Crispy crust but includes the flavor of the crust itself. So you get the best of both worlds.

Years ago, Domino’s put even more effort into the Brooklyn style. The original recipe included Provolone cheese and large pepperoni slices that crisped up nicely in the oven. While I wish they would bring back that version, even without those things, Brooklyn style remains the best crust option available.

If you’re going to order the Brooklyn-style or the New York style pizza, I recommend going for the XL to get closer to the NY slice experience.
