Domino’s pizza offers several different types of pizzas including hand-tossed, handmade pan pizza (deep dish), gluten-free pizza, thin crust and its latest offering, the New York style pizza. If you’re new to Domino’s and are unfamiliar with these pizza types, I’ll discuss each one in detail in this post.
Hand Tossed Pizza
Every Hand Tossed pizza from Domino’s starts with a ball of dough that is skillfully spun and stretched. Once the dough is properly stretched and prepped, it’s baked in the oven and comes out perfectly baked. The crust is brushed with a blend of garlic and oil seasoning.
Handmade Pan Pizza
For those who crave the chewy delight of deep-dish pizza, Domino’s Handmade Pan pizza is a favorite. It begins with high-quality dough that is pressed by hand into a pizza pan. You can customize it with your preferred toppings, extra sauce, and cheese — although it already comes with two generous layers of cheese.
Domino’s Handmade Pan crust was first introduced in 2012 and it is the chain’s version of the classic deep-dish pizza. It has a buttery, golden-brown crust with subtle hints of garlic. It is generously topped with fresh cheese and toppings that extend all the way to the edge of the crust.
But why the name Handmade Pan? Is it just a clever marketing term like the Ch’king or the Quarter Pounder? Not at all! Domino’s guarantees that the Handmade Pan pizza starts with fresh, never-frozen dough that is hand-pressed into a well-oiled pan and baked to achieve a crispy yet soft and chewy crust.
Crunchy Thin Crust Pizza
Domino’s Crunchy Thin Crust is their thinnest crust option, but don’t worry, it’s sturdy enough to carry all your favorite Domino’s toppings. Their pizza dough is always made fresh and never frozen and the Crunchy Thin Crust, despite being the thinnest, is strong enough to handle a variety of toppings. Mainline Pizza Quest describes this crust as “flaky and cracker-like” with a delightful flavor, satisfying crunch, and just the right amount of rigidity.
New York Style Pizza
Domino’s New York Style Pizza is made with fresh, never-frozen dough that has been stretched by hand to a thin consistency. It’s topped with 100% real mozzarella and provolone cheeses and cut into six large pizza slice, foldable slices.
“Domino’s prides itself on offering a variety of pizza crusts for all different tastes,” stated Russell Weiner, Domino’s CEO. “Our vegetarian or vegan pizza chefs designed this new crust to highlight the deliciousness of our ingredients. It strikes the perfect balance of crust, sauce, cheese, and toppings in every bite, making it the star of the show. New York Style Pizza could become our customers’ new favorite!”
If you want to try the new Domino’s pizza they have several deals on the New York style pizza. At the moment, they are offering the large 3-topping New York-style pizzas for $10.99 each, or you can include the new pies in the Mix & Match Deal, where you can pick two or more menu items (including medium 2-topping NY-style pizzas) for $6.99 each.
Gluten Free Crust Pizza
Back in 2012, Domino’s was the country’s first pizza chain to introduce gluten-free crusts
made from rice flour, potato starch and rich starch and is free from wheat, barley and rye the primary gluten proteins that can cause health issues for those with gluten sensitivity or celiac disease.
However, Domino’s advises that this pizza is not recommended for those with celiac disease due to potential cross-contamination in their kitchens as all their pizzas are prepared in the same areas as those with wheat crusts.

Surprisingly Great Pizza
I won’t lie, Domino’s makes a pretty good pizza. New York pizza is better but Domino’s deserves props for a unique pizza. I had a sausage and mushroom medium pie. It was very good and the garlic crust really made it special. It’s my monthly treat.

I had the new york style pizza today and enjoyed it. I felt the brooklyn style was too thin and falling apart. The hand tossed is too greasy and the garlic and butter are messy.
The new york style is a good balance of bread. It’s enough to be filling without being excessive like the hand tossed.
I also like the thin crust but sometimes find the thin crust to not be very filling. You can also order your pizza from Domino’s pizza.

Good dominoes. Exactly the dominoes I sometimes want and crave. It’s close to my house. They’re fairly quick and never get our order wrong.
Cheesey stuffed crust is life.
Employees are nice even at 3 am on a Saturday.

I like it a lot. I don’t really care for artisan pizza or anything like that, and just like pizza as fast food. Dominos has a good garlic-y crust, sauce tastes just like delicious Prego, and the guys who work at my local Domino’s are usually stoned enough to just throw insane amounts of bacon and jalapeno on my pizza. Also, it’s a three topping pizza for like $12, so it’s hard to argue.
